Twenty minutes later we pulled into Vanessa’s driveway.
The porch light was already on.
Vanessa was standing outside waiting.
The moment Lily stepped out of the car, Vanessa dropped to her knees and hugged her.
“Oh my God, sweetheart…”
Lily buried her face in Vanessa’s shoulder.
Vanessa looked up at me.
“What did he do?”
I couldn’t say it out loud.
My throat closed.
But Lily quietly answered for me.
“Grandpa comes into my room at night.”
Vanessa’s face went pale.
Then it changed.
I had never seen anger like that in my sister’s eyes.
“Come inside,” she said.
