My heart was pounding.
When the heavy object fell from the old pillow, I froze for a moment. Slowly, I bent down and picked it up.
It was a small metal box.
My hands were shaking as I opened it.
Inside, there were several envelopes and a bundle of old banknotes, carefully folded and tied with a rubber band. I couldn’t believe my eyes. There was far more money than I ever expected Samuel to have.
But that wasn’t the most shocking part.
At the bottom of the box was a letter with my name on it.
I opened it slowly.
